I know you are wondering what coaching is all about. I wanted to take some time to share my perspective on coaching and what I do with my clients.Coaching is a relationship between two people (coach and client) who work as a team to create a more fulfilling life for the client based on their values, goals, and vision. It is all about moving dreams into goals and then into reality. I want my clients to get the most out of their lives. As a coach I wear many hats. I am an advocate, a sounding board, a cheerleader, an accountability partner, a truth teller and a supporter. As a coach I offer many things to my clients during our sessions such as:

  1. Support to discover the answers within him or her self
  2. Clarification of values
  3. Co-creation of a plan for how to achieve what the client really wants
  4. A sounding board for new ideas
  5. Support in making life changing decisions
  6. Challenge to expand their views beyond their perceived limitations
  7. Direction
  8. Acknowledgement
  9. Encouragement
  10. Resource of information

I know this is just the beginning of what coaching is. If you any questions about coaching, feel free to contact me and I will be glad to answer any of your questions.

I have a question. What do you think is the difference between a coach and a terapist (psychologist)?
I have been on and off terapy for the last 6 years or so, but money always gets on the way, that’s why I haven’t been able to keep it up. I have loved it and has helped me a lot; and by reading your blog over the last 2-3 weeks I think it’s great that people out there are commited to help others on getting to know themselves, make their dreams come true, etc.
I don’t live in the USA but if I did, I would try coaching out, and I think you and I would make a great team.
Keep inspiring us through your blog, which I now check every single day. It’s funny how I feel like I’ve known you for a while already and want to follow your steps on living life out loud.
    God bless Michael!

    Ariela,

There are TONS of articles that go into more details about what makes each different. Here is my short answer.

A therapist looks at your present and how to make it better by going to your past to figure out the changes that can be made.

A coach looks at your future and what you want out of life, than as a team YOU decide how to move forward and reduce the gap between your present life and the life you truly want to live.

One is based more on the past while the other is based more on where you want to go.

I am so glad you feel like you know me and are enjoying my blog. :) I am glad you are moving forward in way to live your life out loud!
