Valentine’s is a quick day that comes and goes. You spend a dinner with your loved one, hand them a card and wake up the next day to move on.

This year I had planned a low key event for Justin and I. It wasn’t a big deal. Just the two of us going to see a movie and then have lunch at the restaurant we met. Simple and easy.

Justin texted me a day later and said how about we have dinner at this place I have been dying to try at a local hotel. I thought it was a cleaver idea. We headed down there to celebrate out Valentine’s and I mentioned how I thought about booking a room there but didn’t because it was too much. We did not need to go overboard for this day.

We had a great dinner and as we were heading out, Justin told me it was time to check in. HE had booked us a room there as a surprise. How sweet is that? It was a great surprise and really made the weekend great!

Well here it is Monday and I am feeling the hangover. It was the rush of living life. I am guilty of not always enjoying life. I spend most of my time saving for experiences in the future which never get here. I am missing out enjoying the present. Justin knows this and that is why he booked the room so we could live life now.

So after my wonderful weekend, the best present I receive was just that “the present”. Living in the present is the best thing you can do to live your life out loud!

How very true….I am a planner for the future as well. I’ve felt at times that I’m missing out on something….maybe life passing me by??? Slowly, I’m learning that you have to stop every once in a while and enjoy life as it is today!

    Mike,

It is great to take the time to enjoy today because today will be gone before you know it. :)
