What does it mean to live your life unplugged?

To me it means that I am true to myself in everything I do. I know I am most happy just being me.

It wasn’t always like this. It took me a long to be comfortable with being myself. Everyone has an opinion on how we should act, speak, live our lives and what goals we should have. It is hard not to give up and be the cookie cutter image of that they want you to be.

One day I woke up and realized I was tired of living a life that wasn’t truly mine. It was time for me to break the mold and create my own set of rules on life. This required me to let go of some of the old rules which I did not agree with:

I do not need to dress up to be respected.

I do not have to climb the corporate ladder to be happy.

I do not need to impress people; they need to impress me.

I do not need to be afraid to have fun in all I do.

I do not need to be ashamed to say I am gay because love is love.

I do not need to kiss ass to be a success.

I do not need to hide my flaws because they make me, me.

I do not need to watch sports or play sports to be accepted in the boy’s club.

I do not need to network to make grow my business.

I do not have to be afraid to decide with my heart.

I do not need to be scared of being me because no one else can do it.

What rules in life have you broken or changed to help you live life unplugged?

That is very good advice! You can only be who you are and not kill yourself trying to be something else! Have a great day!

    Always and inspiration, Michal.

    Don’t forget …

I do not need to keep the world happy – its not my responsibility

I do not need to bear the cross for others

I do not need their acceptance, only their respect

I do not need to fear the homophobic stereotypes created by society – I am who I am

I do not need to justify my love, life, or motivations to others

Wonderful advice Michael as well as an awesome pic. After reading your blog, I’m reminded of a very wise phrase from a very wise man named Popeye the Sailor Man, “I Yam what I Yam” What Popeye clearly states that you are who you are and that’s all you need. Being around people who only cares of what you can bring by your looks or other things, they fail to see who you truly are, and in some cases when you do show who you are, people get look at you funny because you took off the mask. I’m also reminded of one of my all time heroes Gonzo the Great from the Muppet Show. He would do the craziest things or get excited over things others would over look, and everyone would find him weird because of the way he looked as the way he is, but everyone loved him for that. ^_^

You can get the best phrases from some of the unlucky characters. You are so right though. You just need to be yourself!

be yourself and not feel ashame of who you are. You are created specially for you. Believe me took me a while to learn that lesson ^_^
