I have NEVER been on a cruise. I KNOW! You are shocked! ME TOO!
A cruise seems like the perfect vacation for me whenever someone tells me about it. You get on a floating hotel, with TONS of things to do and you can order room service 24 hours BUT you are too full from just the regular dinners. You literally, sleep and wake up in different ports and you visit this new place and return to your floating hotel to begin more adventures until your next port.
A cruise sounds perfect to me except…
I am scared.
I am so worried I will get seasick and be stuck on a boat in the middle of nowhere begging to get home.
Trust me, I know it will be a GREAT time and this will never happen but there is a chance it will. Yes, I know I can even get a patch for sea sickness and will be set for the whole trip, I am still scared.
I can picture the vacation and how much fun I will have. I can see myself becoming addicted to cruising, and living in Florida that is a great thing, but I just have to get myself on the boat.
It would be easy to let people pressure me into going but that really just holds me back. This is not a battle with others but within myself. I have to face my fear on my own terms. I have to set this up so I feel OK and ready to take the jump into my first cruise.
Will this be easy for me? No. Will I be so nervous? Yes. Will I be OK? YES! Will I have the best time ever? NO DOUBT.
It just comes down to setting a time and allowing myself to face the fear. I faced the fear when I went to Vegas and had the best time, I will do it again. It is just a question of when…

I took a RSVP gay cruise-
I met this woman at the airport and RSVP told her that the mix would be 50/50 sadly, there was probably just 8 women aboard.
When I took the cruise it was to Mexico and on a Carnival Cruise ship. (everybody raved about the food on the cruise ship) to me the food was nothing to get excited about. It reminded me of a floating Denny’s.
Also the men aboard took over the women’s locker room so the poor 8 women aboard didn’t have the use of any of the facilities.
I have heard much better things about the Atlantis Cruises. The quality of the people and the cruise ship not to mention the destinations available.
I am sure you will enjoy the decision to take a cruise and I am sure you will have fun.
I look forward to seeing you sunbathing on the lido deck!
Regarding the seasickness I am not sure if you would get seasick on such a large ship. They actually make Sea-bands which uses acupressure points. I have never used them but I have friends who give them grand reviews.
ENJOY!

Michael… Of course we have all seen the Poseidon adventure and wondered if that can happen to me… GET OVER IT… I completely understand the fear of getting seasick.. there is one easy way to find out… Living in Florida, we have the One day gambling casino ships.. Get on one.. You go out for six hours.. if your sick, you know.. It is a large ship, not as large as the Disney Cruise lines, but large enough to determine if your going to get sick on board… So, Next weekend, Justin and yourself need to go to Port Canaveral and get on the casino ship… bring some change, have some fun.. If nothing else, its something else you can cross off your list of things to do in your lifetime…

It is important to just take the leap sometimes and trust that it will be a good time. You know it will be! I am constantly reminded by your examples that you are not the one to be held back by your fears! Remember how much fun you had in Vegas! This could be the next Vegas experience. Better yet, you could even become a Cruise Addict!!! Keep up the great motivation and have a great weekend!

Hey Mike!
Don’t just wonder and worry about seasickness – find out what to expect! I like the suggestion above to try a day cruise. Also, I know there are simple meds for seasickness, and I’ve heard (you should find out!) that it usually passes within the first day or so. When I took my cruise a few years ago, I had a blast but I admit the first day was rough. I spent most of it in my cabin resting/sleeping because I was jet-lagged and exhausted from travel. (I live on the west coast and flew to Florida for my cruise.) But that was OK because the first day was just time at sea on the way to the first stop. Also, they had a rather stressful emergency drill on the first day where they had us line up by the lifeboats while the sirens were blaring super loud. That was the worst of it for me. I can say that I am a bit prone to motion sickness, but the cruise did not make me feel seasick much at all. So check it out! I bet you’ll have the time of your life.

Thank you so much for your ideas and your support! Sounds like you had a great time even though you had to travel all the way over to Florida. I am going to have to jump in!
