I have never understood how we as a society can stand by and let others be abused physically or emotionally. I too was bullied all through school. However, there was a teacher I had in high school who stepped in and defended me. Her name was Janet Calpin - and she influenced my life more than she will ever know. She taught me in that one brief moment that not all people were hateful and that some did actually give a damn about others. She not only stepped in, but she taught me some very valuable life lessons about being yourself and living with pride and integrity. She stepped in and made a difference - and I personally follow in her tracks - it's not because it's the "responsible" thing to do, but because it's the human thing to do. Amen,Michael!
