Did you know it is legal to bully people in the workplace? Yes it is. Hostile working environment is a totally different situation than being bullied. It is OK for co-workers not to be nice or even bully you at work. You are not protected.
Even in our schools, we allow students to be bullied by their peers and teachers and administrators will not step in, even if they are aware of it, unless it becomes physical. BECOMES physical so once you are hit or stabbed then they will act to stop the violence not the bullying which could continue tomorrow.
When I was being bullied in school, all I wanted was one friends to stand up for me but it never happened. I just wanted one teacher to see what was going on and stop it but they didn’t.
So I have made a pledge to never let a bully get away on picking on others. When I see it at work, store, movies, or at a party I speak up. Why do I speak up, because remaining quiet makes me just as guilty as the bully.
Here is a great book to read about bullying. It will give you new insight on the topic:
The Bully, the Bullied and the Bystander
Help me stop the bullys!

From your High School experience, I think that’s what made and will make you a strong individual.

My favorite lie about bullys is that they are just jealous of you. Yah. Not true. They’re just bitches. Interesting thoughts…I think I may make a similar pledge.

I agree with you. I do not care why they do it, they just need to stop. It is not ok. I hope you do make the pledge as well!

Amen,Michael!
I have never understood how we as a society can stand by and let others be abused physically or emotionally. I too was bullied all through school. However, there was a teacher I had in high school who stepped in and defended me. Her name was Janet Calpin – and she influenced my life more than she will ever know. She taught me in that one brief moment that not all people were hateful and that some did actually give a damn about others. She not only stepped in, but she taught me some very valuable life lessons about being yourself and living with pride and integrity.
She stepped in and made a difference – and I personally follow in her tracks – it’s not because it’s the “responsible” thing to do, but because it’s the human thing to do.
