I am not going to lie. Justin is a dork. He knows it and I love it.

He has been excited all week because a new Publix was opening downtown. (Publix is a Florida Supermarket) He asked me repeatedly if we could get up early on Saturday to visit the new store. He knew where it was, what they were giving out that day, what radio station was going to be there and facts about the store. (For example he knew the space was smaller so they had smaller carts as well as made the shelves higher).

He was acting as it he was a kid wanting to open one early present during the holidays. How could I say no?

We woke up Saturday morning, went to breakfast and headed to the new Publix. He was excited about how clean and new it was. How all the shelves were lined perfectly and how it was in a nice new building. He turned to me at one point and said, “How excited are you!!” I said, “Excited for you is more like it.” It was his thing and he was so happy to be able to do it.

Again it would be easy for me pretend I was not dorky but I of course have my own weird dorky habits that make me, me. I knew I was weird and different with some of the things I liked or obsessed about but it was Justin who made me feel OK about it.

Michael, I can so relate to your love of Justin. You know my husband, Dennis. From the moment we met (today is our 11 year anniversary, by the way). Dennis accepted me and all my quirks, eccentricities, and outbursts without question or judgement. He just takes me for who I am. He doesn’t try to fix or save me. And I love him for it. Don’t get me wrong, he’s a freak, dork, and a nerd – and I love every bit of it.
Dennis doesn’t make me feel “normal”, that would be terrible. But he makes me feel that its ok to be me.
Who wouldn’t love a guy like that?

    Bishop,

Congrats on 11 years! No wonder it has lasted so long. I also know that Happy Birthday is also needed to you! :)

I admire you for being such a loving and caring partner! :-)
When I lived in East Lansing, Michigan (home of Michigan State University) there was a grocery store that had carpeted isles. It was one of my favorite grocery stores to go shopping. :-)
I think Justin would be in heaven!
Here in Seattle we had a grocery store chain called “Larry’s market” they are no longer in existence, but they were top notch in their products. They had an underground parking garage and my Dad threw a hissy fit like he was going to have to pay for parking. They actually validate parking, but My Dad went completely off, making me feel like a 11 year old boy again! oops- sorry off topic! :-(
I am glad that you made yourself available to Justin! He sure is a lucky guy! I hope you got some fun stuff while you were shopping at the new Publix.

    Take Care-
    Brad

You’re so lucky to have someone to share such fun things with. Someday you’ll back and love every minute of the “dorkiness” that you have shared. Now I just wish I had someone to share such fun little things with.
Oh, and I do so miss publix and my intern days in central Florida, but life took me elsewhere and now I’m in a different place.

    Michael–

Tell Justin that I like Publix too. When my parents were living in West Palm Beach, I used to love our shopping outings at the local Publix. The roasted chickens ere divine!

And for all the rest of you, Michael too — Justin isn’t all that dorky but he is really that cute in person :-)
