I make a great living but, I also work more than anyone I know. I am also stressed and suffer from headaches. I really do not have that much free time and I find someone drained at times and I also can be cranky (cranky, me? NEVER!)
This week my dad was rushed to the ER. I was there with him and my family. I kept thinking about this moment in time. Was it all worth it? All the hours, the work, etc. Could live a better life with less money but more time?
I know it doesn’t matter how much you make, you always seem to want or need more for some random reason. You can easily get addicted to spending as you can get just as addicted to saving.
I think we forget to look at ourselves and decide are we living the quality of life we want? Is it worth it?
I love what I do. I really do. It is great knowing I make a difference each day. I think you have to balance that with making a difference in your own life as well. You need your life.
Justin and I talk about this all the time. I always want him to be happy. Happy with what he does and how he lives. I forget to check in with myself and make the same choices.
It is so easy to get caught up in the game of life to forget to enjoy it. Forget that you do not need as much as you think. Forget that life is so short. Forget that it is not about the money you but the wonderful memories and adventures you have. It is all about being happy.
Take sometime this week and ask yourself, is it worth it?

This couldn’t have come at a better time. I’m always asking myself if all of my efforts at earning a better living is really worth it, considering that I tend to jeopardize my true happiness during the process. My sisters died at the age of 30, 8 years ago, and I question if I could live a better life with less money and more time, like how your father’s illness made you questioned your own behavior. What I’ve learned is that it is not about money. If you are truly doing the work that you’re passionate about and have the time to enjoy the smaller things in life, all will create those wonderful memories and adventures. Finding what makes one happy is definitely the key.
Thanks for sharing this!

Yeah! I agree! It’s all about being happy. I also think that pursuing happiness is kind of a challenge also, but it pursuing this, we also should think if the way if worth it.

so sorry to hear about your dad. wishing you and yours good health.
i hope you come across more moments of flow in the days to come.
i have given up pursuing happiness since a near-death accident,
i swear it turned me into a zen monk! just be present,
whether it be good or bad, don’t even judge the moment.
just be.
