Wouldn’t life just be easier if someone gave us a plan? Think about it. Dorothy lands in a fighting new world and is handed a simple plan, follow the yellow brick road. No matter how scary it gets, she knows all she has to do is follow the yellow brick road.
What is your yellow brick road? Do you have a vision that you can think of each day that helps you move forward and know where you are headed? When times get hard, can you think or even look at this vision to keep you motivated and headed in the right direction?
Having a vision is so important to your life. We need to know where we are going. This simple plan can help you feel motivated, purposeful, and directed. You design exactly what you are working towards so each day is just a step in the right direction. Whenever you feel lost, you can always find your way again by thinking of your vision.
Take some time today to think where you are headed. It doesn’t have to be in 20 years, it could be a year from now, 5 years or maybe 10. Just a simple vision of where you want your life to be.
When you have this plan, find something visual to represent it. This way you can be reminded of it each day and when ever you need a little motivation, you can look at it once again.
I have quite a few items that help me know where I am headed. Once of my favorite and most recent is my shining pair of ruby red Converse shoes. Why do I have a pair ruby red Converse shoes? That is another adventure I will share with you soon…

Michael–
Love this lesson. I think that we all want to be like Dorothy in one way or another–headed to Kansas or whatever life destination where we feel safe, fulfilled and loved. Can’t wait to hear more about your “ruby slippers”!

Man, I just wrote something related to the Wizard of Oz in the same day! Even updated my post with the image you used. I linked it. About the topic, you make it so simple and clear – to think – but we know life is always tricky. Dorothy doesn’t go alone all the way. We shouldn’t go as well. Thanx for the word.
