Brad,

It is great that you work to slip in what is important to you. Sometimes we assume people know what is important to us, and they don't. It is good that you make sure to get what you need from the conversations. You are taking control. Good for you!

Michael, I am glad that you have such a good relationship with your mom. My mom calls me every Sunday and we talk, but nothing too deep, She always asks me how is the weather, and I am like you could watch the weather channel to get that information. After my accident my mom was there at a drop of a hat, she put her life on hold for me and I really did appreciate it. I told her how much I appreciated the fact that she put her life on hold for me, Sometimes I question her and why she calls me on Sundays.
It seems like she does it out of some sort of obligation or habit, and we aren't going to have a very 'deep and meaningful conversation'. However, I am glad that she calls and asks me about the weather, even though I wish she would ask me about what I feel is the more important things that are going on in my life. Granted I slip some of the things in our conversation that is important to me! :-)
Michael, thank you for being YOU!
Always-

Daniel,

I am glad you are creating great memories with your family as well. You are so right that they are a treasure. Life really is about all the experiences we have.

That is so sweet... memories of those we love are some of the best treasures we can obtain.
My parents live like 5 hours away, but I talk to them almost daily... My sister and I will talk sometimes a few times a day and try to visit each other every other as often as we can. Here in town though, I have a lot of family... my grandma in particular... she is my biggest support... she is a strong Christian... but would fight to the death defending me being gay... I know she would, she loves me unconditionally...
Some of the best memories I have are of her telling me stories of her childhood while drinking coffee on the back porch at night... she's an amazing woman..

Oh... and she feeds me... that's always a plus!

Hope you have a good one...
