Day 8: Favorite Movies

It begins with Muriel’s Wedding. I love this movie. It makes me laugh every time I see it and I bought the soundtrack and listened to ABBA for months!! It also reminds me of myself. How I was trying to be anything but who I was so I would feel better about myself. That others would see I was something special. I also learned the life lesson that you have to create the life you want.

Plus it is an Australian film and I have ALWAYS wanted to go there.

Moulin Rouge was the first movie where I burst into tears from someone singing. I will never forget sitting there watching the movie and “Your Song” started and I was falling in love and crying. This movie reminds me about love. How love is hard, fun and in the end, “The greatest thing you’ll ever learn is just to love and be loved in return.”

Of course, this isn’t the end of musicals….

My favorite Disney movie, the Little Mermaid. Again, it was the story about wanting to be more and finding out how it could be. I love how she dreams for a the life she wants and doesn’t allow anything to allow her to stopped. It is a wonderful movie and I love anything under the water. Great songs and just a feel good movie.

I love horror/thriller movies. Saw is one of the best. This was one of the only movies where I was on the edge of my seat and did not expect the ending. I have seen so many different movies that I am very good at figuring out who is the killer in the end. This one got me, and got me good. I think it will always have that special place as a movie that blew my mind. BRILLIANT.

I was first introduced to Grease 2 as a kid. I didn’t even see Grease until many years later. I had the soundtrack to Grease 2 on record and would practice my dance moves to Cool Rider. I didn’t know a lot of the words to the songs but I performed them often. A lot of the movie message was lost on me as a small kid but I loved it. It was one of the first movies I could quote and did quite often.

I see a lot of movies so I could go on and on but there are some of the top favorites I have. How about you?

Day 7: Your Dream Wedding

I never thought I would have a wedding. I figured being gay meant this was not an option for me.

I had been in a relationship before where we planned a wedding but, in the end, I felt it was silly and I knew I wasn’t ready.

On 10/10/10 Justin insisted I go to brunch with him at the place where we meant. He said we needed to celebrate 10/10/10. This is not odd to me as we celebrate 7/11 day with a slurpie. He loves weird dates.

While at brunch Justin asked me to spend the rest of my life with him. We have been together for 5 years at this time and he wanted us to be married. Of course, I said yes and that was the end.

I still never thought of a wedding or even thought of planning one. I figured people would think it was silly and no one would come and I would be disappointed and hurt.

I was surprised by the amount of people who thought I was crazy and that I needed to celebrate this event. I realized there was much love out there and people wanted to celebrate as much as I did. This is when the wedding dreams began…

I thought of the type of wedding I wanted. I wanted something fun and exciting. I wanted it to be more of an experience than a typical wedding. I wanted laughter, fun and a little adventure as well.

I had many ideas and then finally settled on a simple idea… a cruise.

I have mentioned over and over how I have wanted to try a cruise and hadn’t yet. Many of my friends had not been on a cruise and my family, who have cruised, wanted to get me on the boat as well. It was perfect!

The cruise would set everything up so the price was right and the details were very simple. Everyone would get an adventure and we would be married in a unique and fun way.

So you can say I am having my dream wedding coming true in a few months. I never thought I would have a wedding and I am. I never thought people would come, and many are! I wanted an adventure and everyone is so excited! I wanted it to be full of love and I already can feel that through Justin, our families and friends.

Plus I am getting married on the brand new Disney Cruise ship the Dream. How can it not be a dream wedding?

Day 6: Favorite Superhero and Why

Batman would be my favorite.

I have enjoyed most of the movies and really love the story behind it all. I love a guy who is not a superhero but makes himself a superhero because the world needed one. He needed to be one.

Batman represents what I think most people want to be. Someone who is hurt in the past and has a had time getting over it. Only with time does it heal and we learn that the hurt has only made us stronger and allowed us to make a difference in the world.

I honestly also like the dark nature of the Batman movies as well as the Batman Beyond cartoon. I enjoy there are so many various villains for Batman to work against and the whole drama of it all. They are all over the top.

Plus I LOVE Catwoman but I believe she kind of stands in between good and bad. That is a whole other story.

How is your favorite superhero and why?

Day 5: Your first love

Your first love. What a story I could tell.

I met my first love in an interesting way. He was a boyfriend of a guy I knew. I was 19 and working at a resturant at the time. He brought him in to celebrate his birthday and we met. Both of them were not the type of guys I would every pay attention to and their life style choices were not in aligned with mine.

Weeks later while the guy I knew was out of town, his boyfriend came into have dinner. I met another guy this night. A guy who was charming, nice and made me laugh. I still wasn’t interested as he was in a relationship. As time passed, we would talk daily on his way to work and, in time, he left his boyfriend.

It was not the best situation to every be in and I will always call this my favorite mistake.

Our relationship was not easy as I was young, new to relationships and had high expectations. We had a lot of ups and downs through our time together. The one thing I can say is there was always love there and I could always count on him when I needed him.

It ended after 3 years and we both moved on. We do not have bad feelings towards each other and it was a great time. We both love each other very much but we are not meant to be together. That is how it happens sometimes.

I am very thankful for my experiences with him. I learned a lot about myself, love and relationships. I wouldn’t be who I am today if it wasn’t for that time together.

His birthday happens to be this weekend and he is celebrating a “milestone” birthday. I wish him all the best!

Day 4: A bad habit you wish you didn’t have

I wait. I doubt. I question.

This is the habit I wished I didn’t have. I am always wondering if I am doing the right thing.

I tend to live in the future too much. I am thinking about all that could go wrong. I play each choice I make over and over in my head and try to come up with the perfect way to move forward.

In reality, I end up at a stand still doubting any choice until I forced to make one. I miss out on many opportunities because of this. I wait too long.

I am have gotten much better at this over the years but it still pops up in my life once and awhile. I really want to break this habit and let it go. I want to learn to simply trust myself and know I can always change anything that happens.

When you spend your time doubting about the future, you are missing out on the present.

Day 3: A song to match your mood

So this is the mood I am in today.

Not a surprise I am always feeling fun and excited about something. Right now, I am in the mood to just trust myself and have fun. I think a lot of times I catch myself wanting to do what others’ want from me or trying to do what I perceive others’ want.

Today is all about doing what I want for me. Well, this week is all about that. I checking into me, setting goals and having fun. We all need this weeks once a month to reconnect with ourselves and align ourselves with what WE want.

Day 02: The meaning behind your Blog name

Living life out loud is actually a reminder to myself on how I live my life. It is a phrase I use to remind me that I need to live my life out loud and not just in my head.

This means that I release myself from my own judgements and others’ judgements and live my life the way I want. It means I also have a voice that I need to share my ideas, my thoughts and my feelings.

Living life out loud means you make the most of your time you have in life. You do not just dream about life but you are living your dreams. You are having fun, laughing and being you.

Living life out loud is all about being your authentic self.

And, of course, that happens to be the name of my book as well. :)
