Peelerbuilt

Photo 1.jpg

You may not be able to read my shirt but it says Pellerbuilt. If you do not watch the TV show, Work Out then you wouldn’t know what I am talking about or who I am about to talk about.

Brian Peeler is a trainer featured on the Bravo show Work Out. There are tons of reasons to like Brian. His southern charm, his good looks or the fact he tells it like it is.

One thing I love about watching Peeler is his complete upfront honesty. Isn’t rare to find people who are truly honest? He isn’t rude or uncaring. He appears to have a heart of gold but he also builds strong relationships because of his honesty.

Isn’t easy to trust someone when you know what they stand for and what they expect from you?

Learning to be honest requires you to give up some of your ego and learn to speak from the heart. Being honest requires you to tell your friend you do not want to go to the movies with this week instead of making up an excuse to save their feelings.

We are afraid our friend will not like us but our friend would rather not have a lame excuse and hear the truth. We sometimes don’t want the guilt so we make up an excuse but being honest saves your conscience and your relationship with others.

I may not have had Peeler train me but I consider myself Peeler built because I practice complete honesty. Why don’t you give it a try?

SNL - Christian Siriano - Project Runway

This video from Saturday Night Live has had me laughing all week. If you watched Project Runway you will find this hilarious! I love Amy Poehler and she did such a great job with this skit. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Sex and the City Quote

“When you’re young, your whole life is about the pursuit of fun. Then, you grow up and learn to be cautious. You could break a bone or a heart. You look before you leap and sometimes you don’t leap at all because there’s not always someone there to catch you. And in life, there’s no safety net. When did it stop being fun and start being scary?”

Look Better Naked

Have you been able to watch this new show yet? Yes I told you to free yourself from television addiction but as you can see, I am still watching. :)

The show is about woman struggling with self image issues. They do not like their bodies and Carson (the host) helps them through the process of creating a move positive prospective.

It starts out with a discussion about their personal views on their body. Carson then shows them a video of people on the street giving feedback on a giant image of woman’s body shown on a building. Of course, the people give a more positive image of their bodies.

The woman are then shown a line up of woman and asked to place themselves in line base on where they fit. (They may line up in order of thigh size) This is always amazes the woman because they tend to place themselves at the end of the line when they truly are smaller than they think.

They are then taking for a day of tips and hints to improve their self image based on buying clothing that truly fits. They are then challgened to move out of their comfort zone by an activity. One was wearing a bathing suit in front of others at a pool.

At the end of the show, they are made over and take a professional photo shoot naked to feel more comfortable with their bodies.

This is a great example of how to improve self image through steps:

Step 1 - Learning what you currently think of yourself

Step 2 - Getting feedback on that self image to find a “true” self image

Step 3 - Working on ways to improve your current self image

Step 4 - Push yourself outside your comfort zone to grow and build confidence

Step 5 - Celebrate where you are and make the event with an achievement

So what can you do to Look Better Naked?

Sex and the City Quote

Everyone knows I love Sex and the City and I can not wait until May 31st when the movie is released. Justin bought me the whole complete series for my birthday which explains all the pink balloons he gave me on my bed. :)

The series ended with a very power quote and I want to share it with you. This quote is something I really believe in. This is a great outlook to have on relationships.

“Later that day I got to thinking about relationships. There are those that open you up to something new and exotic, those that are old and familiar, those that bring up lots of questions, those that bring you somewhere unexpected, those that bring you far from where you started, and those that bring you back. But the most exciting, challenging and significant relationship of all is the one you have with yourself. And if you find someone to love the you you love, well, that’s just fabulous.” - Carrie

Care A Lot

So last night I watched the newest Care Bear movie. I know, why am I watching a Care Bear movie? Well it is a great time to remember your childhood and learn a simple life lesson.

The DVD of course was full of great lessons but the one I thought the most about what the Care Bears and how the enemy was so upset with them because they cared a lot. What would be like if we didn’t care a lot? Is there something wrong with caring a lot?

I notice leaders at work all the time have a hard time with the concept of caring about their team members. It is so important to take the time to invest in treating them as people and showing you truly appreciate and care about them. I not saying you should run out and give them hugs but it may not hurt. :)

In our lives we work hard to put of fences to keep people at a safe distance or we pretend not to care so people do not know we are hurt. Is this the way to live?

This is our lives and if you care, CARE! Do not feel you need to hide it. When people treat you bad you have the right to tell them and even the right to walk away from them. We do not need to tolerate this behavior in our lives. Keep yourself open and be true to yourself! This is the best way to receive the world.

So if someone has a problem with you caring a lot, just give them the Care Bear Stare! :)

Samantha Who?

Have you seen this new show? I love it! Christina Applegate is hillirous. The whole show is about a girl who is hit by a car and loses her memory of her past. She has to learn all about her life again and as she doesn’t like who she was. So, she starts working on changing her life for the better.

It is a great show and keeps me laughing but it relates to life so well. How many of us take the time to look at our own lives and work on changing the things we do not like? It is never too late to change something you do not like in your life. This is YOUR life!
