Shut Up and Drive

Last weekend I bought a wii and Mario Kart. I have been driving the hell out of my kart collecting trophies and playing my friends online. While I play the game, I listen to Rihanna’s Shut up and Drive. I love that song and it always makes me play better. (So I tell myself.)

I was thinking about the song and thought it is really true about life in the sense that sometimes we need to be reminded to just shut up and drive.

What I mean, is that we need to stop talking and talking and talking about what we are going to do with our lives. Instead we need to just stop talking and start doing! It is great to have dreams when we make them into goals and then create them into reality. It is all about having action in your life. No one wants to sit in the passenger side of their life. We all need to be the drivers!

So for now on when ever I notice I am spending to much time dwelling on the past, doing way too much research, just talking about something or allowing others to slow me down , I am going to just say, “Shut Up and Drive!” This will get me unstuck and create action in my life.

Save Me From Myself

I love this song. I think this song says a lot about relationships. It says a lot of what I need sometimes as I am sure we all do.

Everybody Cut Footloose

Yesterday I was talking with a friend who mentioned how he missed dancing. He remembered the days when we would spend our time at the club dancing the night away. It was always a good time but those clubs are no closed and we have lives that keep us from being able to spend the night dancing.

I told him that I happened to have been dancing just recently. I went downtown with a group of friends we had a blast. We ended up in a small bar called Room 39 where they play 80’s music all night long. It is a small place so it never gets too busy but just enough people to have a good time.

I heard the music start and my friend Becky jumped out of her seat and pulled up to make sure we didn’t miss our chance to our best Kevin Bacon to the song “Footloose”. We danced. Of course right after that song, they played Becky’s request for “Take on Me” and we had to show our moves to support the requested song.

Dancing always makes me feel good. I think it releases a lot of the stress we have built up inside of us and allows us, for those moments, let go of everything and just have a good time. I love to dance.

My friend mentioned that he plans to go out dancing this weekend. I hope he does.

My Favorite Holiday Song

So the holidays are coming up and I am starting to get excited! I wanted to share my favorite holiday song of all time, All I Want for Christmas is You.

I fell in love with this song when it first came out. I was working at a restaurant and it was on our holiday CD. I would always get so excited when it came up on the rotation. I remember my friend Stacey let me borrow her Mariah Carey CD so I could listen to it and I finally stopped playing it and returned it to her in June. Yes, seriously I listened to that song way until June.

I remember at this point in my life I was so wanting a boyfriend to come on a white horse with a dozen roses to sweep me off my feet. I knew what it felt when all you wanted for Christmas was someone to be there and help you feel not so alone.

Every holiday season I get so excited when I hear this song and it always puts me in the holiday mood. Now I have shared it with you!
