I Have To Come Clean

WeblogoChallenge4c.jpg

As I mentioned in an earlier blog entry, I have signed up to run in the Expedition Everest Challenge. I am very excited about this event and it is only a 5K with a great party afterwards. Going to be a great time.

I signed up in February and I have to be honest and say that I have yet to begin training. I KNOW!! I promised myself that I would start right away and I thought this event would get me motivated but instead I notice month after month is passing by and I still haven’t left the living room.

I think I have just lost sight of my main goal. To be healthy and have fun at a cool event. I need to remind myself of the event each day and get myself moving in the right direction. I am going to post the logo above on my fridge and at work to remind me of the upcoming deadline.

It is time to get my ass moving and I am going to make it happen. I hope all of you will keep encouraging me and do not be afraid to ask me in a comment how I am doing. Just another way to hold myself accountable. I promised myself I am going to do it and there is no time like now to get myself back on track!

Expedition Everest Challenge

Do you remember my fitness goal for this year? Well I signed up for the Expedition Everest Challenge. It is a 5k race with an obstacle course and then a fun scavenger hunt. When you finish you get a medal and get to attend a very cool after party in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. This is the first year they are doing it so I am sure the medal will be extra special and the whole event will be a good time. This is also a fun way to get me motivated about fitness. I get to spend the next months training for it but not having to over do because it is only a 5K. All the training will pay off with a fun event and celebration! I also get to cross off getting a medal for finishing a race on my life list. So what is a goal you currently have and what could you do to motivate yourself to keep working towards it? What will you do to celebrate when you achieve your goal?

A Change Will Do You Good

The new year is here and it is time for resolutions. We all make them and some we keep, some we break and most we just carry over to the next year. :)

This year I am working on fitness. I know EVERYBODY has this one on their list so I joined the bandwagon. :) I am not trying to lose weight but just get myself doing physical activity more often than not. I am going to have to let go of the reality TV, get off the couch and MOVE!

So how do I make this successful? I know that I need to do. I know I want to do it. But, will I really do it? I do not know because Intervention and reruns of America’s Next Top Model will call me back to the couch. The only way to keep committed is to make it fun.

I sat down and made a list of ways to make fitness fun and here is what I came up with:

1. I loved yoga. It was great to release stress and I loved how I felt when I did it. Why not get back into yoga? I can get a DVD and do it at home. After awhile I could join a class to  fun with other people.

2. I love to swim. When it gets warmer, I can get back into the pool. Simple and easy without sweat. Sounds great to me.

3. Muddy Buddy. Wouldn’t it be fun to do the muddy buddy with a friend? I could sign up and then train for the event. I would only have to train to run a mile and bike a mile. How hard is that? I think I could do it and you get to get muddy!

4. Recruit a friend. It is best to share fitness with a friend. You can talk and laugh together while you do whatever activity you chose.

5. Wii. I know this is not always the best but wouldn’t a wii make you active by playing the games? See it is a good way to get a wii and to met the fitness goal, sort of. :)

6. Clean. I know this is weird but I do love to learn a house and I mean CLEAN. So if I would just pick a room a night, I would get a nice cardio work out for at least 20 to 40 minutes. Plus the house would be clean.

7. Dance. I use to dance all the time and this was one of the best ways I stayed fit. Maybe if I just go dancing at least once a month, I will add some great cardio into the mix.

So I am armed with a list of ways to make my resolution stick! I want to make sure it is fun because as long as it is fun I will stick to it. Coming up with a plan is the best way to make your resolution work. It helps you plan how to reach your goals and back up plans if things do not go the way you expected.

Good luck with your resolutions and I will keep you updated on mine. :)
