Sometimes You Have to be Bad

We always talk about being good  but sometimes you just have to go out and be a little bad. We all deserve a little bad time, don’t we?

Here is a list of 20 bad things you could do. Cross of the ones you have already done:

  • used an alias
  • acted on a wild impulse
  • ignored the rules
  • spoke your mind
  • jaywalked
  • indulged your desires
  • challenged an authority figure
  • bought something expensive and impractical
  • used unconventional wisdom
  • said "no!"
  • called in sick and went to the beach
  • shopped shamelessly
  • went on a date just for the free meal
  • mastered creative parking
  • took an extended lunch break to go see a movie
  • practiced random acts of exhibitionism
  • stood up for yourself just because
  • did something you knew you would love now but regret later
  • flirted unabashedly
  • skipped a work meeting because it was going to be boring

After crossing off all the ones you have done, you have a list of bad things left to do.  So go have fun this Monday and get started on the list…

Remember: To be truly good, you have to be a little bad. :)

Do You Ever Visit the Land of Make Believe?

My friend Nick and I have always talked about how we want to go Starbucks with our MACS and sit drinking coffee and look like we are working on something very important like the strangers we see there all the time. Of course we can not think of anything important to be doing but we just want to pretend and why shouldn’t we?

Sometimes we need a break from reality. Our lives are full of stress, deadlines and pressure. We sometimes feel pulled in to many directions. Why not take a break and have some fun?

Now I am not suggesting you live in fantasyland. That is best left in the Magic Kingdom. I letting you know it is OK to plan a fun adventure where you can escape for a day or few hours from your current life situations and just have fun.

What if you for a day you pretend that you and your partner are dating again. Play out the whole role play. Have one of you plan out a date and act as if it is really a first date all over again. Dress up, make plans, get picked up for the date, maybe bring flowers, etc.

Why not play tourist for the day in your hometown. Plan to visit places you have been to or not in town, and act like you are form out of town experiencing your city for the first time. Why not even book a local bed and breakfast to complete the experience.

Why not pretend you are back in college with a group of friends and plan a day like you are on spring break. You can go to the beach, ride on waverunners, get temporary (or real) tattoos and dance away to a beach side band.

There are tons of little escapes you can plan. Let your mind go wild. You can do this all by yourself or add some friends or a loved one to the mix. It is all about a planned escape to allow you to leave from you are and come back with a new outlook. Sometimes a simple break is all we need to help us see everything in a new perspective.

Who Do You Want To Be?

I was working on my guided creativity journal and wanted to share another fun activity. The entry was about who is someone you would want to be and why?

 I chose Clinton Kelly:

He is currently the host of “What Not To Wear” on TLC with Stacey London. The show takes him and Stacey to help a person make positive changes in choosing clothes for their body style, personality, and career. They help the person see who they are now and help them plan on who they want to be. They give them the task of going forward and buying new clothes based on their advice.

Why would I want to be him? Well I find what he does is similar to what I do. Even though he helps others with his great fashion sense while I help others live life out loud, it is all about making a difference in people’s lives. We both use the same type process as well. We show them their current state, find out where they want to be and empower them the tools to make it happen and then allow the process to work and celebrate with their successes.

Personally, I think he is very well put together and comes off quite charming with his clients. I love his confidence as well as his great sense of humor. He doesn’t take himself too seriously and has a fun time doing what he loves.

So I would want to be Clinton Kelly and have my own show and possess some of his great qualities. How about you? Who would you want to be and why?

The Zoo Game

I love playing games which help you learn more about yourself. Games are fun ways to help you get a better understanding of your life and what positive changes you may want to take.

The Zoo Game is a great way to get all the people in your life organized to help you better see the roles they play. You start out by making a list of all the people you know who play an active part in your life. This list can be all sorts of sizes. Just make sure it only includes active people in life. If you haven’t spoken to them or seen them in the last month, not so active. :)

After you gather this list, you make your zoo on a piece of paper. The zoo is built by creating labeled squares (cages) for the people in your life. The labels all depend on your life and the people you have in it. You do not need to have TONS of cages. You need just the cages of qualities you want in your life. Here are some examples:

Good Family Members - Good Friends - Supporters - Positive People - Givers -Trustworthy - Make You Laugh - Make You Smile - Loving - Caring - Believe in You

If you noticed, all the labels are positive qualities you want in your life. So now you can place people into their cages. Some people will be in more boxes than one and that is OK.

You will notice that some people in your life who will not fit into any cage. Those people get placed on the zoo island surrounded by water. They are the people in your life that may not be healthy to have around.

What action do you take with these people? NOTHING.  We are going to spend more time with the people in the cages full of the qualities we want in our life. This will help us be more fulfilled as well as attract more people who want in our lives instead of people who just take up space in our lives.

Have fun building and maintaining your zoo!

Values Game

In my own life I noticed how I seem to have a pattern to my friends, relationships, career choices, etc. There are many reasons why I happen to do the same things over and over again. Some are good while others can be unhealthy. The best way to start reducing the unhealthy ways is to know what your values are. When people would ask me what my values were, I always said I knew but I really didn’t. J Sometimes we just assume we know what we stand for but until we see them on paper and have to define them, they are not truly our values.

By selecting your values, you can start make choices based on them. All you have to do is ask yourself, “Does this help/support my values?” You know longer have to spend time trying to figure out what to do because your values will help you find your way.

So how do you find out your values? Well play the values game! I tend to do anything better if it made into a game. Simply click the link before and you can start your own values game and learn a lot about yourself.

Get Out Quick!

Your house is on fire and you only have a few seconds to grab just three things before you escape (don’t worry, everybody else and all your pets get out safely too). What three things do you take? Why?

  1. Childhood Stuffed Animals - ( I believe they are one item with many members. :) I do not own many stuffed animals but the one I do come with great meaning. I have Boo Boo Kitty and Teddy bear which I have owned since I was a baby. Teddy bear doesn’t have any stuffing in his neck because as a child, that is how I carried him. There is also the Raggedy Andy my mom handmade for me with a personal heart which says I love you on his chest.
  2. WDW Carousel Star - My father worked many years for Disney and one of his projects was repainting the carousal. During the project, they replaced all the stars and my father brought me how one of the stars from the carousal. He gave it to me because I would always be his star.
  3. Sequinda (Molly Junior) - this was a dolly my mom purchased as a back up for my niece Hailey to have at her house when Molly was home. My mom told my niece it was exactly the same but they are not. When my niece told me that Molly and her look alike, I said no this is her cousin Sequinda. My niece thought this was so funny and that became her name. Since my niece’s tragic death, I have Sequinda.

So what three items would you grab with you?

Being Creative

A lot of clients mention how they lose their creative side to their lives. I think as we get older we get so busy with life that we forget to take time out just to have fun, be creative and dream.

There are tons of activities you can do to keep yourself being creative. One of my best is a creative journal. It is tons of random categories for you to write about. You simply pick a page and just write about whatever topic is on the page. You get to have fun as well as learn more about yourself.

I have decided to share the topics with you and what I wrote about. I will post my first one tomorrow.

Cell Phone Game

I love to find ways to simply my life. This is a great game I have played for years and I want to share it with you. It is called the Cell Phone Game.

Once every 3 months, you go through your cell phone and delete the people you have not talked to in that period of time. I know it seems shocking but it helps reduce all the scrolling through numbers and frees space for all the new people in your life.

Now, you should have back up saved in your address book but not in your cell. Your cell is just for the people you speak to on a regular basis.

My friends have said to me, “But what if I need their number someday?” Well, if you haven’t talked to them in 3 months, there is a good chance, if you needed them, they wouldn’t be there. That may not even be their number anymore.

I feel we sometimes hold on to things because we are afraid to let go. It makes us feel more safe to see all the names in our phone but deep down we know, they are not really there but just names taking up space.

FREE YOURSELF! Trust me, you will feel so much better when your cell is full of the people in your life who truly belong there.

Happy Halloween!!

Halloween is my FAVORITE holiday! I love being scared, I love picking out my costume and I love all the wonderful Halloween events.

Being my favorite, I decorate more for Halloween and participate in as many Halloween activities I can. This year I decided I have always wanted to build a gingerbread house so why not build a Haunted House Gingerbread house?

Yes, that is my very own Haunted Gingerbread House. I had a great time decorating it and it really put me in the Halloween mood.

I wish you all the best to Happy Halloween!
