Happy Friday!

Friday is here. Everyone always seems in such a better mood when Friday comes. You just feel like celebrating because it means the weekend has arrived.

So here are some ideas on how to celebrate your Friday:

  • Go on an extended lunch with your friends so you can be excited the weekend is here and flirt with the barely legally server.
  • Bring in doughnuts to the office so you can ruin everyone’s diets PLUS everyone is so much more fun with a sugar buzz.
  • Don’t wear underwear. Panty free Friday. It is your own private party all day. I am sure you won’t be the only one…
  • Play one game of online scrabble with your coworkers to test everyone’s word knowledge.
  • Play truth or dare. Why not?
  • Go to the restroom and make a “Happy Friday” banner on a roll of toilet paper and then roll it back up. Leave it as a surprise!
  • Bring in a DVD of your favorite episode of Sex and the City and have a viewing party in your office.
  • Walk around the office like Tyra Banks and ask people, “Do you want to be on Top?” and have a small America’s Next Top Model photo shoot with your cell phone camera and then stage the elimination so you can crown a winner.
  • Take a nap. Okay maybe not because this could get you fired. Maybe not fired, but at least a stern look of disapproval.
  • Bring in fresh flowers to just brighten up the office. Better yet, send yourself flowers and act surprised. Even better, send them to a friend with a raunchy note from a secret admirer!
  • At 5pm stand up and scream “Yahtezee!” and run out the door.

Or you could simply wish everyone a happy weekend and just enjoy yours but that is just not as fun!

Practice Smile Therapy

If you are having a bad day or your boss is just being an extra mean jerk, smile like crazy at everyone you see!

Photo 2.jpg

I promise that most people, almost all kids and even some small animals will smile back at you. We tend to not smile a lot in our daily lives so when we do others do react positively. With everyone starting to smile at you, you will start feeling better.

Photo 3.jpg

But, you can look at it another way. If you are feeling totally stressed, totally down or depressed and you keep smiling all the time, you can feel like a raving lunatic which can be really fun and it freaks people out. So that will defiantly make you feel better when you see all the reactions you will get from acting a fool!

Photo 4.jpg

So next time you are feeling down or blue, put a huge smile on your face and just have fun with it. Sometimes a nice smile back is all you need to make you feel better. Especially if it from the hot guy in marketing you have been eyeing for months. :)

A Friend Vention

I am there to support my friends through think and thin. I try my best to be a strong shoulder they can lean on and someone that is there just to listen to what they have to say.

Something I love to do is have a friend vention. A friend vention is when you take your friend out to let them vent and get rid of all that unhealthy stress and tension.

Here is one of my favorite ways to release all that built up stress:

You pick up your friend in your car. You get on a long straight of road where you can just drive and drive. You blast your favorite songs together on the iPod, roll down the windows and sing on top of your lungs, badly, to your tunes as you drive down the road.

Trust me, by the end of the drive you both will feel better and probably will be laughing from all the fun and bad singing. Now, you can end the event with some milkshakes or iced chai teas to soothe your singing voice.

Celebrate Adversity

Life is all how we see it. So why is it when something goes wrong we sometimes allow it to ruin our day? Things are going to happen and it is how we choose to deal it that will decide how the rest of our day will be.

I decided to celebrate adversity with a surprise party! Adversity sometimes just shows up unexpected to throw your life into a panic. Instead of letting it just show up unexpected, I am going to act as if I expected it and throw it a party.

Here are some of the silly ways I handle adversity:

When I am driving and someone in a navy blue mini van with a bumper sticker that reads, “My son is a honor roll student” cuts me off, I do not get mad. Instead I roll down my window and scream, “Surprise! I love you!” and I throw a handful of confetti out and blow them a kiss.

When I am working on a major project and computer decides to freeze up on me until I force quit the program and lose all my work, I do get mad. I say, “Surprise! Time for another break!” and I put on my ipod and jam out to at least 3 songs during my impromptu dance party before jumping back into my work.

When I am at Starbucks waiting in line for my drink and I politely order and the barista decides to give me attitude because they are choosing to have a bad day, I don’t get mad. I finish my transaction and then look them directly in the eye and say, “I know you want this” and turn and walk away.

I know this are outlandish responses to adversity but they are fun. Take some time to figure how you are going to respond to adversity so it doesn’t upset your day. Why waste your time or energy on being mean, negative, or nasty when you can just act a fool which gives you a great story to laugh about with your friends.

April Fools Day!

Today is April Fools day when you get to play jokes on your friends and co workers to celebrate the day.

My sister and mom have always been pretty good at getting me on this day so I will have my guard up!

I thought to help everyone celebrate the day I would give you a list of ideas to use on your friends and co-workers:

1. Switch all the coffee to decaf

2. Go to someone’s desk, lean down, give them a look and say, “Oh you so know!” and walk away

3. Switch the signs on the restrooms

4. Go to a restaurant, tell them you are vegan and ask tons of questions about the food. When the server looks as if he can’t take it anymore say, “Screw it! I will just have the steak.”

5. Celebrate a friend’s real 30th birthday! Happy 30th April!!

Sometimes You Have to be Bad

We always talk about being good  but sometimes you just have to go out and be a little bad. We all deserve a little bad time, don’t we?

Here is a list of 20 bad things you could do. Cross of the ones you have already done:

  • used an alias
  • acted on a wild impulse
  • ignored the rules
  • spoke your mind
  • jaywalked
  • indulged your desires
  • challenged an authority figure
  • bought something expensive and impractical
  • used unconventional wisdom
  • said "no!"
  • called in sick and went to the beach
  • shopped shamelessly
  • went on a date just for the free meal
  • mastered creative parking
  • took an extended lunch break to go see a movie
  • practiced random acts of exhibitionism
  • stood up for yourself just because
  • did something you knew you would love now but regret later
  • flirted unabashedly
  • skipped a work meeting because it was going to be boring

After crossing off all the ones you have done, you have a list of bad things left to do.  So go have fun this Monday and get started on the list…

Remember: To be truly good, you have to be a little bad. :)

Happy Easter!

As you can see from the photo, I had a great time coloring eggs this weekend.

Not only did I get to have fun, be creative and relax but I also have hard boiled eggs to enjoy for the next week.

As a kid, I have always had fun coloring eggs so why should I stop now I am an adult? I shouldn’t and I didn’t. :)

I hope you have a good time this weekend and do something fun to celebrate that spring is here!

It is All About What You Focus On

There are so many areas in your life to think about and grow in. There is no way you can multi-task your life and work on all areas at once in an effective way. Where you focus your energy is where you will see the most progress. Unsuccessfully focusing on everything will lead to nowhere.

I know I try to do this but it never works. I have to sit down with myself and take a quick poll of my life areas and decide which one I am going to focus on right now. As you know from my blog it is my health area which includes fitness.

Take a few minutes and think about your life areas and which one you should be focusing on most. Let me know…

Truth or Dare

I use to play truth or dare all the time when I was younger. Who I am kidding, I just played it last month.  It is a fun game where you learn about your friends and push them out of their comfort zones. I love this game!

When playing you simply have to choose truth or dare.

Some people will always choose truth because they see it as the safe choice. They just have to answer a question which reveals a little about themselves and only they know if they told the truth.

Some people choose dare because they want to take a risk. Maybe they enjoy living life on the edge or maybe they trust their friends not to make it so rough on them. Whatever reason is behind their choice, the dare is over in minutes, they are filled with such a rush for doing it, and they get a sense of accomplishment for completing the simple task.

Either way, you are playing a game with your friends which makes you laugh for hours.

When it comes to your life, do you think you are playing it safe or are you taking risks and pushing yourself to grow and learn? In the game of life, do you choose truth or dare?

I choose DARE!

Stir Up Your Office!

I was working with a client in her office last month, when I looked around and noticed it was so boring.  I asked her why her office was so dull. She said she wanted to be promoted and this was how an office should look for that.

I didn’t need to ask by who’s rules she made this choice because I knew she was determining it by the company culture and year and years of old management rules. Well times have changed and to be a leader you have to be willing to change as well.

I asked her if she feels energized by her workplace. Do people feel enthused when they come to see her. She said yes, by her actions, but people tend to avoid her office. She even prefers not to be in it. So I made the bold request that she make her office fun!

She was shocked at first and hesitated at the thought. It wasn’t until she started to really decorate her office did she see the results she received. People wanted to come to talk to her more. She was even getting more work done in her newly decorated office. People even mentioned that they didn’t know much about her until she started opening up this past week the same time she changed her office.

The simple truth is an office doesn’t make a professional person, a professional person makes an office. It needs to represent who you are. You want people to get to know you, build relationships and have fun. We are so afraid to be who we are because it could keep us from getting a promotion BUT who we are is exactly what they want.

There are thousands of cookie cutter people who go along with the everyday who could be moved into boring positions. Organizations know you need to find leaders who are different, personable and willing to bring change to move your company along.

I want everyone to add one fun item to their office this week. Regardless of what your office looks like now, add one new fun item this week and see what happens…
