Super Reserve

It is the beginning of 2009 and I wanted to give you a plan to help you boost up your life. During these hard times in the States, a lot of people I thinking about having back up plans and supplies to support your life in case anything happens in your life.

Not only during these times, but in general we need to plan for the “what ifs”. Not spending your time thinking about all the “what ifs” that could happen BUT putting in place a reserve so you don’t have to worry because you are prepared. Having a Super Reserve is even better and it really helps to reduce your fears and allow you to live your life without worry.

A good friend of mine shared this program with me a year ago which helps you to work towards a building a Super Reserve in many of important areas of life. Of course it includes money, career, relationships, love, family, personal time, etc. It really covers everything so you do not miss out when building your Super Reserve.

You do not need to complete this activity in a week, month or year. This is a goal you set in place and follow as you go along. The more you complete the better you are but there is no rush. Take your time and allow it to grow as you work on it. You will complete your Super Reserve in due time.

Here is a link where you can print out the Super Reserve Checklist and begin your journey!

Good luck!

Time Machine

It is New Year’s Eve and we are ready to welcome in a brand new year to begin. Of course it is a normal time for us to think about what we accomplished this year and where we are headed in the next.

As a gift today, I am offering you the chance to go to the future in my time machine. Are you jealous you don’t have a time machine? You shouldn’t be because I am letting you use it! :)

You get into my time machine and move forward through time. You see beautiful color swirls all around you as you listen to pop songs from the 80’s. Finally the machine comes to a stop and the door opens to show you December 30, 2010.

WOW. 2 years later in time. You are here and get the opportunity to see what your life is like. Unfortunately I can not come with you, you will just have to tell me what you see.

What is your life like in 2010?

What is your career like? What is your relationships like? What about your friends and family? What makes you happy? Where do you live? What do you do for fun? What vacations have you been on? What fears have you conquered? What challenges have you faced? How successful are you? What makes you smile? What have you accomplished or achieved? How great is your health? How are you financially doing?

It is time to go back to the present. We can’t live in the future, we have to live for now. You get back in the time machine knowing how GREAT your life is going to be in 2010! It is so exciting and you can not wait to get started on the journey to 2010.

The question is, what is the first step?

Compliment Box

A fellow coach shared this idea with me and I think it is a very good activity to help you when you are feeling down.

Think about all the compliments you get on a regular basis. You may not remember all of them. Mostly just the recent ones. They come in cards, emails, FaceBook messages , phone calls and even in person.

Take the time to write them know, cut them out and save them in your new compliment box. You can put them in order by date or catergory or just place them in the box you create.

Whenever you are feeling down, take a moment to review your all your compliments you have gathered along the way.

When you are down it is because something bad was said, or done, or didn’t work out. Reviewing all that you have done gives you the chance to remember that more great things have happen in your life and even more are on their way. This is just one down moment in a life filled with UPS!

Stop Doing List

Everyday I think about my To Do list. I add items onto my list that I need to get done. It seems my list keeps growing and growing. I also take time to think about good habits I want to add into my life as well, exercising, eating better, etc. These all end up on a long To Do list which slowly gets crossed off with time.

How can you spend this process up? You can create a Stop Doing list as well.

A Stop Doing list covers all the bad habits, things you tolerate and time wasters in your life. What are you currently doing that needs to be stopped so you can make room for all the great items on your To Do list.

It is wonderful that I want to exercise but I can never find the time. If I look at my life there are tons of things I can “Stop Doing” to give myself the time to exercise. I could reduce my time watching TV or playing WordTwist, or updating my status on Facebook. If I stop doing these things or greatly reduce them, I make time to allow myself to exercise.

Everyone would love to get more work done at work but there is not enough time in the day. What if you stopped going to needless meetings or learned to only check and respond to email 3 times a day? Think about all the time you would get to focus on something more important and even achieve greater results.

Take some time to see what you can add to your Stop Doing list to help allow you the space to complete more of those items on your To Do list.

5 Years

When do you bite your tongue or when do you speak your mind? When do you make a big deal or when do you just let it go? When is it time to confront someone and when is it not worth it?

It is hard to determine in the heat of the moment what to do. Our emotional mind jumps in and we want to react instead of taking the time to truly respond (with thought) to the current situation.

One way I handle this is by asking myself, “Will this matter in 5 years?”

Think about it. A lot of times we make a big deal out of small moments in our lives. Think about all the time, stress and anger you will save when you just think about how important something will be in 5 years.

It really helps me create my reality and stop allowing others to affect my life that do not need to.

Give it a try this week…

I Love Hugs!

I sure this is not surprised to anyone but I love hugs! I can never be hugged enough and I am one of those people that if you open your arms, I will so hug you.

I know a lot of people hesitate to hug people. They are afraid the other person will reject them. I am not one of those people. I truly believe if you open your arms people will give you a hug right back. If they don’t, well at least you know. It is them who are missing out, not you.

If I meet you for the first time, of course I will not hug you but, after I know you, I will hug you every time I say hi and good bye. I do not want to think that one day I could miss the opportunity to give you a hug to show I care. Life is too short to miss these opportunities.

I am taking this opportunity to send each of you a virtual hug to let you know I care about each of you. I appreciate you taking the time to read my blog.

How can you hug me back? All you have to do is hug someone else today. You can hug them good bye, good them hello, hug them because they need it, or hug them just because. Just hug someone today as my hug back. :)

8 Fun Cheap Dates

Dating can be so much fun. Regardless if you are single and just beginning dating someone or been in a relationship for years, you can still enjoy having some fun cheap planned dates to help you get the most out of your time together. It is all about creating fun experiences you and your date. Here are 8 Fun Cheap Date Ideas to give a chance:

  • Sunrise or Sunset Date – Pick a spot where you can either watch the sunrise or watch the sunset. This could be in your backyard, at the beach, at a park or on top of a building. You ask your date to be ready and head out there with muffins and hot cocoa or Hot tea and cookies and just enjoy watching the sun’s daily adventure of appearing or disappearing.
  • Volunteer – Find a fun event in your area where you both could volunteer for a few hours. It could be helping out a group, working an event, or even planting trees or cleaning up a beach. Not only do you feel great for giving back but a lot of times the event will give you cool matching t shirts! :)
  • Midnight Snack – Meet your date at a late night dinner or invite them to your house for cookies and milk at midnight. It is just a fun little game where you enjoy spending time together at a random time at night. Make sure you take it serious and make it a date at midnight.
  • The 7-11 Date – Give each other a budget ( $5 or $10 each) and go to 7-11 and buy whatever you want to plan your date. Maybe you get slushies and nachos. Maybe you get a coloring book and crayons. Do not count out crackers and spray cheese or just getting newspaper to read the comics in with 2 coffees.
  • The Photo Date – Buy a disposable camera and plan your date to be a photo shoot. Either plan to be around ton and take funny pictures of each other or pick a theme where you want to take pictures of butterflies, cool graffiti or wonderful flowers. Once the camera is done, get coffee while you wait for them to be developed and have a good time reviewing your date.
  • Brunch on Bench –  As your date to meet you at your favorite bench in town. Maybe it is in the mall, park or on a college campus. Anywhere where you can talk, be together and enjoy the view. Pack two bagels or two bagel sandwiches and just enjoy the time together.
  • Tallest Building – Find a building in town with a nice view and meeting in the lobby with coffee. Then head up in the elevator and just enjoy the view and see all that you can. It is about time together with a different view of the world.
  • Be a Kid Again – Why not go swinging or play Twister, or go to the Circus? Think about what you enjoyed as a kid and why can’t we do it again as a date? You will have a blast going back to being a kid and laughing until it hurts!

I hope this list gives you some fun ideas to create wonderful dates with your new love or the love you have been lucky to have for awhile. It is all about making life full of happy experiences!

One Risk

Today is the day to commit to taking one risk. I challenge you to do one thing that will put you out of your comfort zone.

  • Talk to a stranger
  • Ask someone out
  • Speak your mind
  • Sing in your car with the windows down
  • Buy that naughty shirt you know you will look hot in
  • Eat carbs and love it
  • Invite someone new to lunch
  • Remind someone you love them
  • Write a letter of gratitude
  • Cross an item off your life list
  • You decide…but take the risk today!

What is in it for me?

It is very easy to see the glass as half empty but, as you know, it could be half full. During tough times we can drag ourselves down with looking at all the negatives. We look at life and realize all the bad things that are happening to us. Sometimes we need to lean on the benefits we get instead.

I tend to always see the glass as half full and a lot of my friends are drove nuts by this fact. I just rather dwell on the positive than the negative. I want to see all I am receiving instead of what I am not getting. It just helps me have a better outlook on life.

You can change your perspective as well. All you have to do is play a game I call, “What is in it for me?”

The game is easy, whenever something “bad” happens you have to think about what you won, what did you get from this situation. No matter that the situation is, or how crazy the idea is, you just come up with something you received first before saying anything else about the situation.

Here is some examples:

It is raining again! – I don’t have to water the grass today.

I missed the movie – Now I can watch it on DVD in bed.

I did not get the job – There must be a better one out there for me.

I wasn’t invited to the wedding – Now I don’t have to buy a gift.

He doesn’t like me – He must be intimidated by my success.

That was a horrible date – At least I got a free dinner.

They don’t have my size - Must mean I need it in red instead of black.

My boss is so mean – Just makes me look better and better.

Sure some of them are silly but still fun. It is all about creating the habit. Once you get in the habit of always looking for the benefit, soon you will just natural find positive outcomes to most things in life. You are just changing you perspective and seeing the glass IS half full.
