Whenever I am filling out forms and they ask me about caterogry I coach, most of the time I have to select alternative lifestyles to represent the gay and lesbian community. I always wonder what being gay is the alternative to.

By definition an alternative lifestyle is a lifestyle generally perceived to be outside the cultural norm.I assume by this that being gay is a lifestyle that is perceived as not being normal. Why am I considered abnormal because I am gay?

Lets be honest, being gay is probably the most normal part about me. :) There are tons of things I do that can be considered abnormal but being gay isn’t one of them. I love just like everyone else. I didn’t choose to be gay, I was just born this way. It is who I am.

When you start to think about it, don’t we all have parts of us that are abnormal? Isn’t that what makes us unique and different as people? In that case, wouldn’t that mean that being considered abnormal would actually be normal?
