As of last night, my Halloween Horror Night 2009 experience has now ended. After attending all but one night, Robert and I said good bye to the event for this year.
We had a great time. The houses were great! The shows were wonderful and the scare zones were….blah. Now the fried oreos…
Here are my photos and story recap of the Halloween Horror Nights 2009 Continue Reading »

What would it be like to be gay for one day? What would your world be like? What would change?
I was out with a group of friends at a local theme park. As we were walking around, laughing and having a great time. A new female friend mentioned how it would be so cool to be gay for a day.
As the Universe heard her mention these words, two guys walked by our group and one said to the other, “I am glad I am not stuck around those fags all day.”
I looked at my new female friend and said, “Yes gay for one day. FUN!”
I wonder what would change if everyone was able to see what it was like to be gay for one day. Would they see the hurt their words cause? Would they see the struggle we face? Would they see we are all the same?

From my Happiness Now! Calendar
The greatest stress in our society is that we’ve set happiness upon the horizon instead of in our hearts. In doing so, we’ve turned happiness into a race, a chase, and a finish line that we will one day, hopefully, eventually, finally, arrive at.
This is a great shift of perspective which gets you thinking about how you view happiness.
Happiness is not a goal, destination or future event. You deserve to be happy NOW!
That is how I gauge my life and what I am doing. I check to make sure I am growing happier and happier as I journey through life. When I notice I am slipping in the area of happiness, it is time to make changes NOW to get me back on track.

For the month of October, Robert and I frequent Halloween Horror Nights. We get a great deal on a pass which allows us to come many times. We both love HHN and enjoy the haunted houses, shows, and scare zones. The people watching is just as entertaining as the attractions. Plus we can always make time for a short ride on Jaws.
When we went a few nights ago, I passed by a booth which was selling fried oreos. I mentioned to Robert that I have never had them before. I stopped and purchased a water and a basket of fried oreos.
We headed to watch the Rocky Horror Tribute Show and I was in bliss. Not only did I get to see Rocky Horror again, (I think Robert and I have seen the show more than 10 times this year) I got to enjoy an amazing new treat! I think frying oreos actually adds nutrition to them!
As we left Rocky Horror, Robert wondered “How could fried oreos and Rocky Horror make us so happy?”
I really believe it is the simple things that make life fun and meaningful. Sure it was a show we have seen so many times. Sure it is a snack we could have anytime. But, it was the time together that really makes it special. It is the new memories we are creating. It is the time we devote to ourselves to have fun, laugh and enjoy our day.
Plus eating a fried sugary treat while watching half naked dancers grind on stage never hurts…

Did you ever noticed how you rent your life out? You work a job and you do well but it is never enough. Not because you are doing a bad job. Not because you are not doing more than expected.
It is never enough because people feel you are not giving them enough of your time. They feel you are not working the 40, 20, 15, etc hours they want from you. They want your time.
The problem is I can give you my time but is it worth it? How many times have you pretended you were busy at work when really you were on Facebook or even reading this blog? When you want people’s time, you might get it but doesn’t mean you are really getting all their talent, strengths and productivity.
I am tired of renting my life to others. My time, is my life. I can never get more time back. When I give it to you, I am giving you away part of my life.
Is it easy to free yourself from renting your time? YES! Stop counting the hours and time you put into work. You must start by letting go of renting your time FIRST. Start pointing out what you do, the results you produce and what you bring to the table.
People pay me for my services and not my time. I bring my services to you and produce results. I might do it some weeks in less hours or sometimes in more hours. It doesn’t matter. But you pay me for my results and not my time.
My time is mine.

I am saying good bye to 30 and hello to 31! Of course I am still amazed on how fast it flew by. It is time to reflect on what I did for my 30th year as well as what I did not do.
I wanted to share with you some lessons I learned this year:
Become Selfish – It is so easy to get lost in trying to help and please others. When you allow yourself the opportunity to relax and actually put yourself first, you achieve even better results. Why? Because you are taking care of the person who you need to rely on the most. You are able to see clearer what you want and need in life. You are able to make better choices. It is like the famous speech we hear each time we fly. You have to put the mask on yourself first before you can help others.
All You Need is Love – You can face any situation with love. It just produces better results. When you use love you are able to forgive, be grateful and let go of those bitter feelings. Love also helps you to clear the path. There is a big difference in like and love. That difference is settling. When you learn to love first, it helps you to see what you have a passion for. Besides, if you want love in your life, you have to give it. Who doesn’t want more love in their lives?
Do It Now – This is one I struggle with. I always make plans to do things in the future. Of course there are hundreds of excuses that can occur before then that will keep me from doing it. It is just easier to do it now. You do not have to worry about it, plan it or even dwell on it. You just do it. There is a great feeling when you do something now. It is over and it causes you to do even more things. Motivation comes from action. I know sometimes it doesn’t make sense to drop your chores to treat yourself to something you want. It might not even make sense but why not do it now if you are going to do it anyway? Remember, you are being selfish now.
Respect your Health - Your health is the one thing you can not buy. When you do not have your health, you notice right away how life is put on hold. Nothing else matters but to make you feel better and back on your feet. It is so easy to forget what it feels like when you are not well. I can find myself moving through life taking my health for granted and not doing anything to help make sure I stay that way. Respect your health by making choices and commitments to help you stay healthy as you are now.
Accept Yourself – I would love for you to love yourself but that is a longer process. It is so important to accept yourself first. I did a lot of that this year. Learned to accept who I am, strengths and flaws, and realize that any other person wouldn’t be me. You have to accept that there are things you will work on, you will grow and you will create change but it is a process. Right now, you will accept who you are and be proud of it.

It is my birthday again! Seems like it was just a few months ago I was celebrating turning 30 and now I am 31.
Time does fly…
I love my birthday because I take time out to have fun, relax and treat myself.
I notice my birthday always seems to fill me with energy and refresh me to do even bigger and better things.
It comes from the fact I give myself permission to enjoy life and let go of my worries and thoughts. I allow myself to stop stressing about other’s demands on me and will people love this blog entry or even read it.
I live life for me. I live life for my happiness. But why only for this one day?
Sounds to me like this would be a great shift in living my life all the time, wouldn’t it?
I noticed my blog has become heavy with topics and lessons instead of the silly adventures through life. Instead of showing living life out loud, I only talk about it instead.
I am going to do just that. Instead of blogging all the things I should do or we could do, I am going to just do it.
I am going to blog my goals, dreams, and successes. I am going to blog about living life out loud by living it not just talking about it.
This is my birthday gift to myself.
