Care A Lot

So last night I watched the newest Care Bear movie. I know, why am I watching a Care Bear movie? Well it is a great time to remember your childhood and learn a simple life lesson.

The DVD of course was full of great lessons but the one I thought the most about what the Care Bears and how the enemy was so upset with them because they cared a lot. What would be like if we didn’t care a lot? Is there something wrong with caring a lot?

I notice leaders at work all the time have a hard time with the concept of caring about their team members. It is so important to take the time to invest in treating them as people and showing you truly appreciate and care about them. I not saying you should run out and give them hugs but it may not hurt. :)

In our lives we work hard to put of fences to keep people at a safe distance or we pretend not to care so people do not know we are hurt. Is this the way to live?

This is our lives and if you care, CARE! Do not feel you need to hide it. When people treat you bad you have the right to tell them and even the right to walk away from them. We do not need to tolerate this behavior in our lives. Keep yourself open and be true to yourself! This is the best way to receive the world.

So if someone has a problem with you caring a lot, just give them the Care Bear Stare! :)

The Time is Now!

Have you ever noticed how we put things off? We will share money later. We will exercise later. We will go back to school later.

Later is a place in time that never comes. Later is always in the safe distance that makes us feel we will get it down but we know it will not require any action now.

Wouldn’t it just be easier to say I am going to do it now. Then you do not have to think about it anymore. You no longer have to tell yourself excuses. You just know the time is now. If you are going to think about it, you are going to do it now!

Think what your life would be like now if all your “laters” were happening or even happened already.

Get Out Of Bed!

I hate mornings. I have never been a person who enjoys getting up and I always hit snooze a few times. I am so excited about the time change because it helps me wake up in the morning. Well for at least a few weeks…

That got me thinking of me and my relationship with my bed. I am not a morning person so I love to stay in bed as long as I can. When I get home, if I have no plans, I get undress and spend the night in bed watching TV or working on my laptop. On the weekend, I wake up in bed eat in bed and watch TV to be lazy. When I am sick, I stay in bed and watch TV and nap. When I am sad, I go to bed and take a nap.

I got to realize I spend a lot of time in bed. Why do I have a love affair with my bed? Maybe because it is comfortable, maybe because it is safe, maybe because I am just lazy.

So I decided it is time to get out of the bed. Yes this one step will start my life. You see if I get out of bed, I am forced to start living life then being lazy, safe and comfortable in bed. You have to take a risk and you have to get going. You start with the simple step and it builds onto more and more steps which lead you where you need to be.

You see getting out of bed allows me to be ready for life. Ready for opportunities, ready for fun and ready for life. So what could you do with your life if you just got out of bed?

FOOTBALL!

I am not a huge sports fan. I am not very athletic and I spend most of my life in the arts not on the sports team.

I had the opportunity to attend a homecoming football and decided, why not? I may not understand the game but at least I can say I went once. So I attended the game and it wasn’t long until I caught on to how it was played and joined in on the activities. I was lucky enough to witness part of history as a player ran the most yards to score a touchdown.

If I had said no to going, I would have missed seeing history. If I had said no to going, I would have missed the opportunity to say I have been there. If I had said no to going, I would never truly be able to say I didn’t like it. If I had said no to going, I would have one less memory in life.

I am not saying you need to say yes to everything but think how many times you regret saying no. Wouldn’t life be so much better with a little few regrets?

Never To Old

We place judgements on ourselves all the time. We are too fat. We are too tall. We are not as cool. We are too old.

These judgements are based not on how we personal feel but what other’s place on us. What would you do with your life if you didn’t waste time thinking you were too old? Isn’t that just an excuse not to live life?

It was Homecoming week at the University I work for. They have a huge pep rally in which all the students are allowed to enter the reflecting pond located on campus. I have never been to any such event since my college was a small private liberal arts school, we didn’t have such HUGE events.

I decided I wanted to go. Not only go to see how it was but to get in the water. When I mentioned this to others I work with, I heard a lot of excuses why I shouldn’t do it or why THEY were not going to do it.

Well I went and I got in the water. I was excited to be there and it was a fun time. I showed my support and I can say I participated in part of the University traditions and now I am part of the history as well.

When returning to work, the same talk was all around about how wild it was, how silly it was, and how everyone thought they were too old to go. When I said, I went. The same thing would happen. Silence, shock and a look of regret on their face. They would all of sudden start asking questions about how it was.

The only thing I could say to each of them was. Your never too old to get in the water.

Cell Phone Game

I love to find ways to simply my life. This is a great game I have played for years and I want to share it with you. It is called the Cell Phone Game.

Once every 3 months, you go through your cell phone and delete the people you have not talked to in that period of time. I know it seems shocking but it helps reduce all the scrolling through numbers and frees space for all the new people in your life.

Now, you should have back up saved in your address book but not in your cell. Your cell is just for the people you speak to on a regular basis.

My friends have said to me, “But what if I need their number someday?” Well, if you haven’t talked to them in 3 months, there is a good chance, if you needed them, they wouldn’t be there. That may not even be their number anymore.

I feel we sometimes hold on to things because we are afraid to let go. It makes us feel more safe to see all the names in our phone but deep down we know, they are not really there but just names taking up space.

FREE YOURSELF! Trust me, you will feel so much better when your cell is full of the people in your life who truly belong there.

Happy Halloween!!

Halloween is my FAVORITE holiday! I love being scared, I love picking out my costume and I love all the wonderful Halloween events.

Being my favorite, I decorate more for Halloween and participate in as many Halloween activities I can. This year I decided I have always wanted to build a gingerbread house so why not build a Haunted House Gingerbread house?

Yes, that is my very own Haunted Gingerbread House. I had a great time decorating it and it really put me in the Halloween mood.

I wish you all the best to Happy Halloween!
