MAC Obsession

So it is no secret I have been wanting a MAC. The apple store always calls my name as I walk by and I swear they market directly to me. My friend Nich was the first to push me towards MAC and I have always thought about doing it.

It wasn’t until after months of research did I decide I was going to switch for sure. Of course I have spent my time delaying because I am so afraid that the moment I finally get it, they will come out with a better one that I wish I would have had.

Think of all the time I delayed getting the MAC when I could already have it and be loving it. Instead I keep allowing myself to find ways to delay instead of take action.  Do you have something in your life you really want but keep delaying instead of taking action?

When I get my MAC, I promise to let you know as long as you tell me when you finally take action as well. :)

Push Westward!

I am lucky to have some great people in my life who have taught me a lot about myself. I was able last week to catch up with a great friend of mine, West.

West always was there to push me out of my comfort zone and make me live life a little more. He was someone I could completely trust and he always had my back.

After spending a great day with him, I came home and started thinking about some of the many adventures we had. One came to mind which showed me how much I have grown and how West pushed me to be a better person.

It was New Year’s Eve and I had to be around 20 years old. I was sitting at home watching TV around 11:00pm and West called me from the club and told me to get down there. I was very reluctant to go because it was going to be very crowded, I did not drink, it would be so loud, excuse after excuse. The real reason I did not want to go was because I would have to walk from my car to the club alone. I would have to walk in alone and find West.

What was I scared of? Was I scared that when I got there, West was going to hide from me and the people at the club were going to pour a bucket of pig’s blood on me? I was just scared of what people would think. Seriously, I do not even remember what I thought they would judge me on but I just knew it would be bad.

West continued to assist I come and told me he would wait for me right by the door. I had to come. It was New Year’s Eve and everyone was there. In a moment, I said yes, hung up and got dressed.

The club was only 10 minutes from my house so I was able to get there around 11:45, just in time for the big celebration. Of course, West was waiting for me right by the door when I got there. I had the best time and I was able to celebrate New Year’s a way I had never experienced before.

If West had not pushed me, I would have stayed home and missed out. West wasn’t pressuring me to come BUT pushing me to get outside my comfort zone and enjoy life. He knew I wanted to come. He knew I could do it. He knew he would be there to support me by waiting by the door.

I was remember being so scared and nervous until I made the choice to do it. Once I made my mind up, I was on a mission to get dressed and get there in time for midnight. Once I let go of my fears and made a choice, I was able to set myself free and focus on the fun and excitement of the night.

Thank you West for the push. Not only this time but the many times before, after and still today.

Get Moving

I noticed that after a long day, I come home and sit in front of the TV watching reruns of Friends and Family Guy. I get something fast to eat and stuff myself on the couch while watching shows I have seen a hundred times.

I notice that I am not feeling well, I am tired a lot and I tend to find myself being bored. Being bored is not a healthy thing to have in your life. There are tons of things I could be doing.

So I had to stop myself. I had to make the choice to come home and move around at least for 40 minutes each day.

These 40 minutes can be used for:

  • A nice walk outside
  • Using my indoor bike while listening to music
  • Deep cleaning one of the rooms in the house
  • Finishing up some yard work
  • Completing a random craft project
  • Shopping for food and supplies for the house
  • Cleaning out closets and attic space

The list could go on and on but the point is for 40 minutes each day I have to get moving. I can not just be lazy and waste my time when I get home. I want to make sure I do something productive each day for 40 minutes. Think of what you could do with your life if you just made a commitment to 40 minutes a day of your time.

Tree of Friends

I was talking to my friend Nick today when he mentioned he was going to put up his Christmas Tree after he got him. He mentioned how he doesn’t many ornaments for the tree. He didn’t want to just buy a bunch to fill the tree but he wanted them to have meaning like his childhood ornaments do at home.

I suggested that he email all his friends and ask them to send him one ornament that represents them. This would then decorate his tree with his friends and would allow him to include all his friends in his holiday celebration.

What a great idea to make your holiday celebration more meaningful! He is going to send all his friends a picture of the tree when it is complete. I can not wait to see it and I am glad I will get to play a part in his holiday celebration.

ICE!

On Thanksgiving, I went with Justin to see ICE.  At the Gaylord Palms Resort in Orlando they produce a great holiday display each year. It is a walk through exhibit of GAINT sculpted scenes made completely of ice. Of course, being Florida we do not normally get to see things as this because of our warm weather. The whole exhibit is kept at 9 degrees and they give you coats to wear.

Not only is it a great way to ignore the holidays and experience the cold BUT they have a whole scene which is designed as a toy-land with 3 giant ice slides. Justin and I arrived very early., so we were the first in the exhibit which meant we were the first to arrive in the ice slide room. The employees are so excited to see us and invite us to go down the slides. Justin has already said he doesn’t want to go down the slides.

Why would you not go down the ice slides? I know he is not scared of them. I know slides are fun so why not? Could he be afraid of what other people would think?

I run of the stairs to the first slide and talk him into going on the tallest slide. After I get off the slide, I find him smiling at the bottom of his slide. I walk with him up so we both can go down the last slide.

What is people had been in that room, would Justin chosen not to go down the slide? Why would you miss out on having fun because you are afraid of what others may think? What would you do in your life if you weren’t afraid of what others would think?

See, I am not the only one who loves quotes! This plate was at my sister Donna’s house, where I spent Thanksgiving. It really inspires her and I hope it does the same for you.

My Favorite Things 2007

So on the biggest shopping day of the year, I thought it would be fun to share with you some of my favorite things from this year. (If Oprah can do it, why can’t I? Maybe it will be something you could like for yourself. )

Here is my 2007 list:

  1. Homedics Indoor Wind Chime - I love the sound of wind chimes and it is so relaxing to have them indoor with you. You simply push the button and you get a natural wind chime sound. It is great to fill in as background noise while reading, blogging or cleaning. I really enjoy this in my house.
  2. Yankee Candle Sun and Sand - The beach is one of my favorite places. This Yankee Candle scent is a great way to bring the beach to your home everyday.
  3. Quotable Cards - This company makes some of the greatest products with wonderful quotes that can inspire and empower you each day. They have a great calendar as well as journals, cards, magnets, etc. Everyone can use a little inspiration in their lives.
  4. Magnetic Poetry Creative Journal- I have started to share my entries I create with my Magnetic Poetry Creative Journal. This is a great way to keep creativity alive in your life.
  5. Life.DOC - This is a great way to simplify your life! This book allows you to gather all your important information into one simple book. You have a reference book to help you in any situation PLUS you can save a electronic version of all the information.
  6. Basin Salt Scrub -  Basin is a great store of bath and beauty products located in Orlando at Downtown Disney. All different types of products but one of my favorite is the Salt Scrub. It is a product that really helps improve your skin texture. There is nothing wrong taking some time out to pamper yourself.
  7. Treo 680 - Today I am celebrating my Treo’s one year anniversary. I purchased it with my friend Nick and I will say, it has helped me so much this year. I may not use it as much as I should but it has greatly helped keep me organized and actually simplify my life.
  8. Book “Boy Meets Boy” - This is a must read book for everyone who believes in discovering yourself, love and friendship. This is one of first teenage novels written about a gay love story. It is the first gay novel for teens which won a Blue Ribbon Award as a must read.
  9. Create Your Own Tumbler by Starbucks - Who doesn’t love their Starbucks but this is a great way to not only save the Earth by reducing waste BUT you can be creative as well. You simply can make your own tumbler with whatever you want. You can have your kids color you a picture. You can add your favorite quote. You could insert pictures of your family, friends and/or pets.
  10. Life Coach - Did you think I wasn’t going to mention this? :) Having a life coach is a great way to start your new year off with a bang and empower you to achieve what you have always been wanting out of life. Yes, I have a life coach too. It is all about making you the you, you have always wanted to be.

Get Out Quick!

Your house is on fire and you only have a few seconds to grab just three things before you escape (don’t worry, everybody else and all your pets get out safely too). What three things do you take? Why?

  1. Childhood Stuffed Animals - ( I believe they are one item with many members. :) I do not own many stuffed animals but the one I do come with great meaning. I have Boo Boo Kitty and Teddy bear which I have owned since I was a baby. Teddy bear doesn’t have any stuffing in his neck because as a child, that is how I carried him. There is also the Raggedy Andy my mom handmade for me with a personal heart which says I love you on his chest.
  2. WDW Carousel Star - My father worked many years for Disney and one of his projects was repainting the carousal. During the project, they replaced all the stars and my father brought me how one of the stars from the carousal. He gave it to me because I would always be his star.
  3. Sequinda (Molly Junior) - this was a dolly my mom purchased as a back up for my niece Hailey to have at her house when Molly was home. My mom told my niece it was exactly the same but they are not. When my niece told me that Molly and her look alike, I said no this is her cousin Sequinda. My niece thought this was so funny and that became her name. Since my niece’s tragic death, I have Sequinda.

So what three items would you grab with you?
